Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sometimes Weekly?
Sometimes Weekly is an ongoing project and publication by Nick Butler delivering high-quality, moderately-funny content on semi-regular basis. It has been operating in earnest since February 2015.
Who is Nick Butler?
He’s the writer behind Sometimes Weekly.
How often can we expect new entries?
Yes.
Why is your writing sometimes funny and sometimes serious?
Sometimes I laugh at the world and sometimes I scream.
What are your favorite entries in Sometimes Weekly?
Hey, thanks for asking! I love them all, but here are a few of my favorite entries right now:
1) Setting the Dress Code for a British Secret Society
2) Fear and Loathing at RFK Jr.’s “Historic Speech”
3) An Open Letter to Zor’Pax Faelrin III, Earth Historian
Even after reading those, I’m still confused. I’m not sure I understand what Sometimes Weekly is, exactly.
That’s fair. I’m note sure I understand, either.
Is it a business?
It could be a business.
Is it pointed political rhetoric?
Sometimes.
Is it art?
Woah, woah, woah — let’s settle down.
I mean, it sure seems like it might be art…
Well, whatever it is, it’s certainly not weekly.
Okay, so what’s the deal with Membership?
In 2023 I began issuing Membership Cards for the Sometimes Weekly Publishing Company. Membership denotes Good Standing and entitles you to all the rights and responsibilities therein, including an active subscription to the physical-only In Exile newsletter and other occasional benefits. Currently, Membership is organized through Patreon and every Membership Card is issued for eternity.*
Did Donald Trump really threaten to sue you?
Yes, his lawyer threatened me with a $100,000 lawsuit in a cease and desist letter that said “Mr. Trump considers this to be a very serious matter.”
Did you really quote Donald Trump in a D.A.R.E. speech you gave in the fifth grade?
That’s a very specific question, but yes, I did quote Donald Trump in a D.A.R.E. speech I gave in the fifth grade. I documented much of my long and bizarre history verus Donald J. Trump in June 2025 but didn’t include this speech from 2003:

Is Tom Hanks really a S.W.P.C. Member?
Yes, Tom Hanks accepted his Membership in February 2025, though Mr. Hanks certainly retains his right to withdraw his support and disavow this publication entirely.
